Iznik takes its name from the Turkish town known for tiles painted with flowers, and the ring carries the same idea in gold: a bloom of six petals around a raised centre. Each petal is worked in fine filigree, with sunburst lines spreading outward from a small teardrop at its heart. The centre is a dome of gold ballwork, tiny gold balls set close together, against the smooth lines of the petals. The petal edges are open in a jaali pattern, in the Turkish style, so light passes through the wide top, and the shank repeats the open design in lattice cutwork. This 18KT gold ring is a statement gold ring, made to be the one bold piece on the hand.
